We are almost done with the Medicare Annual Enrollment period (last day is Dec. 7th).  I know you got bombarded with ads on TV and mailers saying you only had until December 7th for changes. Often people don’t know that there is still the Medicare Advantage Extended Open Enrollment Period:  January 1st – March 31st.  If you, your friends or family are on a Medicare Advantage Plan  (Example:  Health Alliance, United Health Care /AARP or Regence) you have an extra 3 months to make sure you are still on the best plan.  This period only applies to those who are currently enrolled in a Medicare Advantage Plan.

If you are confused about the difference between Supplement Plans (medigap) or Advantage Plans (Part C) check out this area of our website.  Scroll through the page to learn more about Medicare plans or take a look at this Medicare “cheat sheet” we use.

Often Medicare Advantage plans lower premiums and have more bells and whistles.  Examples include; hearing aid benefit, some dental reimbursement and vision check-up coverage. But you could be stuck with more out of pockets costs if you get sick.  Remember everyone has different needs and Medicare insurance plans are not a one size fits all matter.

As always, we are here to help you make any changes and clean up the confusion.      Rick MacDermid
