Don’t overpay for your Medicare! Nobody wants to overpay for anything in life. So you find yourself talking with your friends or family and you find out they are paying less than you for their Medicare. There are many reasons this could be happening. First, are you comparing apples to apples? They may be on a Medicare Advantage Plan, less premium out of pocket up front, but often more copays later on. Compared to a Medicare Supplement plan where you pay more upfront in premiums but less in copays. Next, do they have a discounted rate due to qualifying for special help? Lastly, have you had your Medicare reviewed lately? This is where your agent takes the time to go over the best options available for your situation.
Many find themselves overpaying for their Medicare. Often they were put on a Medicare Supplement Plan F years ago. Those rates have continued to rise significantly, but the client was never offered some of the other cost saving options available. We are often able to save our clients significant amounts of money by just making the shift from F to G, or to N. Plan F’s monthly premium covers the deductible and all copays, but at a steep rate. Plan G gives you the same coverage. The difference? You need to pay the yearly deductible of $203 (2021). Then everything else is covered after that. Medicare Supplement Plan N will save you even more in monthly premiums, you cover the deductible and a small co-pay. See this great tool below to compare Plans G and N.
Had a review lately?
When was the last time your Medicare Part D drug plan was reviewed? This is another way we help clients save money. Example: You signed up for Medicare 5 years ago. At the time it was the best drug plan for you. Now it is 5 years later, the drug companies often raise their rates each year and what if your medications have changed too? This means you may not be on the best plan anymore. Make sure to review these plans each year and make changes that best serve YOU.
You can only change your Medicare Drug plan each year starting October 15th. We have a great drug self-enrollment option for you on our website. Here you can put in your current meds, your preferred pharmacy and the best plan for you will come up on the top. You can then self-enroll. Reminder: This option is only available Oct 15 – Dec. 7 each year unless you are new to Medicare or are in a Special Enrollment Period.
Bottom line?
Don’t overpay for your Medicare. Has your agent reviewed your coverage to ensure that your are still on the best plan for you and your situation? All it takes is a quick, simple review of your current coverage and we can help you find the best, most cost effective plan for you.
