Medicare preparation for 2024 is already happening around here at Senior Solutions Group.  Have you heard about people doing “Christmas in July”?  That how it kind of feels for us, it’s time to get all of our ducks in a row so we are ready for the open enrollment season and Medicare 2024.

You might think, well you mean Medicare 2023.  No we do mean Medicare 2024 prep and this is how Medicare works.  For those already on Medicare there is an Annual Enrollment Period from October 15 through December 7th each year.  This AEP is for those who would like to make a Medicare Part D Prescription Drug plan change or a Medicare Advantage Plan change that would then take affect January 1, 2024.

Why Would Someone Want to Make a Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Plan or Medicare Advantage plan change?

This is a great question, thank you for asking 😉.  Often the medications people take change throughout the year.  Different Medicare Part D and Medicare Advantage Plans cover medications differently.  It is always really important to pick the plan that works best with your medications.  Don’t just go on a plan because that is what your mom, spouse or neighbor is on.   Also, your medications could be the same, but the plan has changed which formularies it is covering.

Another reason to make a Medicare change could be that there are now new plans that are available in your area.  Doctor networks changing could affect which plan you want to be on too.  Also, your budget may have changed and you want to line it up with your monthly Medicare premiums.

For those on Medicare Supplement plans, you can make changes year-round.  Depending on where you live, you may be able to make changes without health questions, or you can change your plan in your birthday month.  Different states have different rules.  This is a really good reason to have an agent who knows these rules and regulations.

Medicare preparations for 2024 started for us just this week with our annual training on the rules for 2024.  See our staff picture from this week.  We may have had some fun with food and prizes to make it through the long training day as well.  We will now be getting certified with our different carriers (something we do every year), so we are better prepared to help you in the fall.    Reach out to us if you have any questions or check out our Youtube channel, there are so many great educational videos for you there.
